Nomadic life is highly accepted by Qashqai and the concept of tribe is so essential to them, so they still have nomadic life and wear traditional clothes. Women wear colorful clothes and a long shirt with loose sleeves wear on their cloth and tie their heads with the colorful embroidered strip. Men somehow wear like Western but they wear Khotah, which is a kind of felt hat in special size.
Resorts of the winter of nomads, which is called Garmsir, were around Firuzabad and Farashband and they stayed there for five months. Immediately after Nowruz, on March 21, they move to their summer resorts near Zagros.
This travel, which is called 'Il Rah' locally, lasts sometimes two months about 200 km and sometimes mainly on dessert and narrow roads. Nomad life is necessary to keep livestock. The main income of tribes is livestock.
They have races of sheep that are adapted to tough climates due to having fat in their tails to save required energy. Qashqai keeps camel, donkey, and horse in addition to sheep, which are known in Persia and are considered expensive. Their political structure is intact; they select a person as head and he is called 'Il Khan' or 'Il Beik'. In past, this person was selected but now it's inheritance. Each Il is composed of some tribes; distinctive tribes with different origins that were settled in Fars. Each tribe has a Khan and used determining grounds for their livestock. The population is different as their dialect is different.
