Golpayegan rug is one of the traditional rugs that is woven in the Golpayegan region in central Persia. It is situated near Arak and Isfahan are famous for rug production. Rugs made in Golpayegan have been known in the market since the twentieth century. The rugs imitated or were commissioned to use Qum and Farahan regional designs.

In this rug, an asymmetrical knot with cotton and wool yarn is used. The rugs were considered lower in grade quality than original Qum or Farahan rugs. Still, in the late twentieth century, Golpayegan weavers began to weave a finer quality, including rugs with a silk foundation and a silk pile. Red, blue, green, beige, and ivory are the common colors of Golpayegan rugs.
