Persian Nomads: Folklore Song
Los Angeles Home of Rugs on Mar 4th 2021
Gise Gol is a folklore song belonging to the nomads living in the central regions of Fars in Persia. The craftsman sings it while playing the Persian Ney (an end-blown flute). It illustrates the love of a rug waver for a girl named Gise Gol; her father wouldn’t consent to the couple’s marriage and the craftsman tries to sing his heart out while expressing his feelings.
